North English-Janice Joyce O'Meara was born November 7, 1934 near Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Leon Foubert Roggentine. She graduated from Deep River-Millersburg High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to John Cyril O'Meara on June 26, 1954 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Millersburg, Iowa. Janice dedicated much of her life to raising her four children and helping her husband with the family farm. Later, when the children were older, she worked for Evan's Photography in North English, and then also worked with her husband in his farm chemical business as the office manager. She was active in the Rotary Club Anne's and supported many events at Knoll Ridge Country Club in North English, she was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Prior to her illness, Janice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing golf and traveling with her husband and friends, which included traveling abroad to visit foreign exchange students who they had hosted through the Rotary Exchange program. Janice died Monday, December 27, 2004 at the English Valley Care Center in North English after a lengthy illness at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 20 days. Janice is survived by a daughter: Kim O'Meara of Cedar Rapids; three sons: Robert and wife Patty O'Meara of Millersburg, Gary O'Meara of Garland, Texas and Bradley O'Meara and wife Megan Threlkeld of Iowa City; seven grandchildren: Molly Clubb of Traer, Megan O'Meara of Ames, Alison and Ryne O'Meara of Garland, Texas, Evan Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Melanie and Collin O'Meara of Iowa City and a great grandchild Calia Clubb; a brother: Robert Roggentine of Bellevue, Nebraska; two sisters: Candy Rieck of Bellevue, Nebraska and Virjeanne Schminke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on December 27, 2003, and a brother David Roggentine. Janice will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She had a zest for living and enjoyed life to the fullest. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English by Fr. Pat Lumsden. Burial will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery near Millersburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2004 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Iowa City Hospice. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
