PACKWOOD-Jared Greiner, age 49, of Packwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at his home, after his battle with cancer.
Jared was born March 7, 1977 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Bonnie (Briggs) Greiner. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1995, where he was a State Champion wrestler. Jared then graduated from Indian Hills Community College with a degree in Robotics and Automation in 1997. On December 20, 1999, he married Somer McBeth in Lancaster, Missouri. They lived in rural Packwood where Jared was a bridge inspector for the Iowa Department of Transportation. Jared enjoyed wrestling, golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his kids and grandson, Hank.
Survivors include his wife: Somer of Packwood; three children: Clayton Greiner of Packwood, Samantha (Lathyn) Weaver of Batavia and Rainee’ Greiner of Richland; grandson: Hank Weaver of Batavia; father: Ernest Greiner of Ollie and siblings: Aaron (Shannon) Greiner of New Richmond, Wisconsin and Spencer Greiner of Packwood. He was preceded in death by his mother: Bonnie Greiner; in-laws: Firman McBeth and Dixie Chapman and grandparents: Glen and Donna Briggs and Bernard and Adela Greiner.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with Rev. Jake Greiner presiding. The service will also be live streamed on the Powell Funeral Home facebook page. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney.
