Jerolee Stout, 82, of Homestead, formerly of New Sharon, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City.
Jerolee was born November 2, 1942, the daughter of Charles “Jerry” and Marjorie (Bair) McArtor. She graduated from North Mahaska High School. Jerolee was united in marriage to Marvin LeRoy Stout on June 10, 1959 in New Sharon. A talented and dedicated professional, Jerolee worked as an engineer for Sheller Globe/Lear/UTA in Iowa City until her retirement. She was an active member of the Homestead Welfare Club, Hawk A Model A Club and the Antique Automotive Club of America, all which reflected her love for community and classic cars. She was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan. Jerolee had an eye for elegance and a strong sense of style-she was never seen without her hair done, makeup applied, nails polished, and jewelry perfectly in place. She had a deep love for flowers, shopping trips with her family, holiday gatherings, and traveling. Her favorite getaway was spending winters in South Padre, where she enjoyed the warmth and sunshine.
One of Jerolee’s greatest joys in life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She poured her heart into making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-whether it was spoiling them with love, attending their special events, or simply enjoying their company. Her presence lit up every room and her family will forever cherish the laughter, hugs, and love she gave so freely. Jerolee’s grace, warmth, and love for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn (Bryan) Galde of Marion and Kim (Tom) Ballard of Marengo; 8 grandchildren, Ashley Allen, Courtney (Kyle) Upah, Nathan (Stephanie) Ballard, Star (Tyler) Umbdenstock, Sasha, Sara and Skylar Galde, and Justin (Jess Suchan) Overturf; great grandchildren, Kiley, Kinley and Kora Allen, Maddox and Londyn Upah, Emery and Cash Ballard, Cambrie Galde, Braxton Galde, Trinity Suchan, and Jaden, Hunter and Noah Overturf; her sister Peggy (Van) Moore; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law, and niece.
