Jessie Blaylock

North English- Jessie Irene Blaylock was born August 28, 1920 in Keswick, Iowa, the daughter of Orlando and Bessie Harriett (Reasoner) Edmundson. She attended Keswick High School. On December 9, 1937 Jessie was united in marriage to Marvin Franklin Blaylock in Kirksville, MO. She lived most of her life in Keokuk County, before moving to North English in 1987. Jessie was a 48 year member of the Kinross Christian Church and a 11 year member of the North English Christian Church, Kinross Social Circle, CWF, 72 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Matron of Rosalind Chapter and a member of the Past Matrons Club. She enjoyed cooking, canning, wintering in Florida, Texas & Arizona, hosting her family and later playing bingo at the English Valley Care Center. Jessie died on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the English Valley Care Center, North English at the age of 95.

She is survived by her children:, Gary (Sandy) Blaylock of North English, Karyl (Bill) Miller of Washington, Mike (Margaret) Blaylock of North English and Pat (Michelle) Blaylock of Fairfax Station, VA; 17 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; a sister Harriett Denison of Sigourney; a son-in-law Marvin Gent of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband Marvin in 1989, a daughter Karen Gent 2015, a sister Dorothy Tadlock, three brothers Dale, Wayne and Raymond Edmundson, a niece and a nephew.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the North English Christian Church, North English. Pastor Luke Caster will officiate. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery, rural South English. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
