John Morrow

John T. Morrow, of Fontana, California, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died February 24, 2013 in Fontana. At his request, his body was cremated. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant assisted the family with the arrangements. Born May 28, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, John Thomas was the son of Frank Thomas and Kathleen (Trunk) Morrow. He was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Mr. Morrow enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On January 12, 1959, he married Patricia Kay Shafer in New London, Missouri. John was a steel worker and was employed at Kaiser Steel in Fontana for twenty-five years. He later was employed as a custodian for the Fontana School District for ten years, from which he retired. Mr. Morrow was a member and usher of St. George Church in Fontana. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War Posts. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished times together with his family, who enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor. John is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Morrow, of Fontana, CA; three daughters, Shelley S. Rentas and Theresa A. (John) Guthrie, both of Fontana, CA, Rhonda (Robert) Holman of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, Sean Thomas Morrow of Fontana, CA; and a sister, Kay Morrow of Rowland Heights, CA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Rachelle, Bryan, Brandon, Rolland, Dana and Kaydee; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Shastine, Blake, Breanna, Bryan, Seth, Levi, Malachi, Austin, Arianna, Alexis, Allyson, Autymn, Shane, Roman and Raymond. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Bradley Oliver; and a granddaughter, Ramey Dykes.
