Williamsburg- John "Jack" V. Driscoll, Jr, was born June 16, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of John Vincent and Rosina Pearl Rush. He was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1941 and attended Iowa State University. Jack was united in marriage to Kathleen V. Clear on August 30, 1945, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Holbrook. He was a life long farmer and resident of the Williamsburg Community. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Iowa County Fair Board, County, Iowa & American Angus Associations, Hampshire & National Swine Registries, Farm Bureau and the NFO. He was a member of the National Catholic Society of Forresters, and a Troy Township Trustee. Jack had three major priorities: his family, his Catholic faith and his farm, Walridge Farms, where he lived his entire life and which he and his father brought to national prominence in the 1940s. He enjoyed farming and exhibiting livestock, dancing and going for drives. Jack died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness, at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; 2 sons: Elliott (Rita) Driscoll and Erle (Renee) Driscoll all of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister Virginia Driscoll (Richard) Breaker of Golden, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at St. Mary's Church, Williamsburg, Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation is 2-8 PM on Friday, May 28, 2010, with a prayer service & rosary at 6:00 PM, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
