Joseph L. Garringer

Marengo-Joseph Lee Garringer was born October 18, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Maymie (Burkett) Garringer. Joseph served in the United States Marine Corps as a MP from 1968-1970 serving in Vietnam, and was in the reserves until 1974. Joseph was united in marriage to Darlene Clements on May 1, 1979; they later divorced. He enjoyed working on cars, going to auctions, buying lumber, going out to eat at various restaurants and being around people. Joseph died Wednesday, May 26, 2026, at his home in Williamsburg at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Garringer (Joseph Barnes) of Marengo; brother Dale (Jennifer); sister Teresa(Dan); and brother Benton(Quembee). He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Laurance, John David, Glenn H. and an infant sister.

There are no services planned per his wishes. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Marengo is caring for Joseph and his family.
