Joseph Lee Pope, was born March 19, 1981, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Terrence & Debra (Lee) Pope. He was a 1999 graduate of English Valleys High School and a graduate of Kirkwood Community College. Joe previously worked as a Pre Foundation Tech at Monsanto, in Williamsburg. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. He enjoyed riding the 4-Wheeler and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Joe died on Friday, April 9, 2010, at the age of 29 years. He is survived by his parents Terry & Deb Pope of North English, Iowa; a grandmother M. Margaret Pope of Newton formerly of Millersburg; a great aunt Ardes Barnhart of Deep River; and numerous uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by a brother Stephen Pope; a grandfather Lloyd Pope, grandparents Harold & Arlene Lee; and two uncles Paul Pope and Dale Lee. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Fr. Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Monday at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 pm.
