Joyce Kaufman

DELTA-Joyce Kaufman, age 90, of Delta, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home.

Joyce was born May 5, 1936, in Little York, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Levona (Adams) Steepleton and graduated from Yorkwood Senior High School. She married Ralph Kersey. They had three daughters and later divorced. She then married Guy Kaufman. Joyce was Licensed Practical Nurse, working wherever she and her husband were living at the time. She worked most recently in Ottumwa before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church and went on several mission trips with her husband, Guy. Joyce especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her cat, Penny.

Survivors include three daughters: Gayle Saxton, Brenda Samuel and Jackie Farr; nine grandchildren: Chris, Jason, Belinda, Jeremy, David, Beth, Richie, Brent and Ryan; several great and great great grandchildren and brother: Randall Steepleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Guy and brother Larry Steepleton.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Sigourney, with Pastor Joe Hohenshell officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery near Delta at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
