Judith Ann Schweitzer

KALONA - Judith Ann Schweitzer was born February 25, 1943, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Stanley and Severine (Sobolewski) Kitkowski. She graduated from Washington High School in South Bend in 1960, and attended Indiana University. On December 30, 1961, Judith was united in marriage to Larry Schweitzer in South Bend. They lived in Iowa City for 10 years, before buying a farm and moving to rural Wellman. Judith worked as a Medical Technologist for 40 years at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Parkview Evangelical Church in Iowa City. She loved spending time in her flower gardens and became a Master Gardener in 1992. Judith passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. She was 77 years old.
Judith is survived by her husband Larry of Kalona; a son David (Tami) Schweitzer of Washington; a daughter Jill Herold of Long Beach, CA; 4 grandsons: Cody (Megan) Schweitzer, Alex (Kelli) Schweitzer, Gil Herold, Grant Herold; 2 great grandchildren: Will Schweitzer, Halie Schweitzer; a brother: James (Marsha) Kitkowski of Chapel Hill, NC; and a sister: Polly (Jerry) Lower of Bourbon, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father William Eherenman, and an infant sister Peggy Eherenman.

A private memorial service will be held at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Messages may be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
