He joined the United States Army in 1956 and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. Kenneth was united in marriage to Patricia Leah Shaull on September 26, 1959, at St. John Lutheran Church in Marengo. Kenneth farmed with his father and brother, Richard for many years. He later began farming with his son, Todd. He also worked at the Homestead Implement for many years selling machinery.
