Former Henry County Sheriff, Kenneth K. Krabill, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18th, at Faith Lutheran Church, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice House, Faith Lutheran Church or Teen Challenge of the Midlands. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. The son of Emerson L. and Alta R. Christner Krabill, Kenneth Keith was born on January 14, 1943, in rural Henry County. He was a 1961 Mt. Pleasant Community High School graduate. Following graduation, Kenneth joined the Iowa Army National Guard. On June 4, 1977, he married Carolyn B. Alvine on Emerson's farm in Henry County. Kenneth graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1988, with Bachelor of Arts degree in business. For 27 years, Kenneth was involved with the Iowa Army National Guard. Sergeant Krabill was the unit administrator of 224th Engineering Battalion Company D in Mt. Pleasant. By the time of his retirement, in 1988, he had obtained the rank of 1st Sergeant E8 and was an enlisted Army National Guard Lifetime member. A life-long resident of Henry County, Kenneth was best known for the eight years he served as Henry County Sheriff and eight years as a deputy. He retired from law enforcement in 2005. Whether working or volunteering, Kenneth served his community. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as president of the church board, was past president of the Mt. Pleasant Lion's Club, and was past president of the Henry County Credit Union. He was a member of AM Vets, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post #58 and V.F.W. Post #2561. Kenneth was a Red Power Association member and was vice-president of White Oak Cemetery. He was a coin collector and enjoyed car rides with his family, often to try-out a recommended restaurant. As a young man, Kenneth had his pilot's license and enjoyed appreciated the time in the air. He loved to spend time at the family farm and was especially proud of his W6 1950 show tractor. Along with his wife, Carolyn, Kenneth is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (Robert) Marie Reimer of New River, AZ; a son, Theodore (Shantell) Emerson Krabill of Parnell, IA; two brothers, Larry (Ann) Krabill of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Jim (Shirley) Krabill of Wayland, IA; and a sister, Marilyn (Bob) Reichman of Roseville, MN. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Justin, Charlie, Hunter, Tony, Will, Gracie Mae, Aiden, and Gabriel. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
