Ollie-Kenneth John Striegel was born on the Sunday, July 10, 1938, to parents Delbert and Alma (Bombei) Striegel of Harper, Iowa. As the eldest, eleven more children would follow him.
Kenny was raised in the Harper area graduating in 1957 from St. Elizabeth High School. He joined the Army National Guard and was an active-duty member for 5 years.
Kenny was united in marriage to Linda Lou See on June 2, 1962, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. They were blessed with four children, Mark (Jodee) Striegel of North Richland Hills, Texas, Eric (Lori) Striegel of Swisher, Iowa, Heidi Wide (Mike Ward) of Ollie and Aaron (Stacey) of Northridge, California. Kenny’s grandchildren, Samantha, Kevin, Michael, Lindsay, Leah, Grayson and Parker. His first great child will be born in August. Kenny and Linda were fantastic line dancers and taught many classes over the years. A highlight of their lives was meeting Garth Brooks.
After Linda’s passing, Kenny married Deb Till on June 21, 2003. Deb brought into the marriage three daughters, Kierston Till of Montezuma, Gretchen (Bobby) Belville of Rushville, IL, and Morgan (John) Boney of Ottumwa. Their grandchildren, Quincy, Shelby, Linkyn, Sabin, Payton, Jordan, Jaxson, Landen, Jasmine (Gabe) and Austin (Tayle).
Kenny was a lifelong farmer and worked many years for the Richland Co-Op. He liked to stay busy and with so many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews there was always a wedding or birth to celebrate. Pulled pork of course, was the meal provided most times! He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Prairie View Church near Ollie. Kenny died Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Lone Tree Care Center at the age of 85 years.
Kenny is also survived by his siblings Joyce Webster of Decatur, TX, Francene (Lou) Lorenzo of Williamsburg, Jeanette (Richard) Peirce of Williamsburg, Leo (Jacque) Striegel of Harper, Dennis (Jeannie) Striegel of Harper, Leroy (Deb) Striegel of Carlisle, Raymond (Ginny) Striegel of Indianola, Sharon (Ed) Banks and Jane (Sam) Mendenhall all of Garden Grove; two sisters-in-law, Barb Striegel of Keswick and Sandy Striegel of Harper, including their families. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda of 34 years, his parents, brothers, Danny in infancy, Edward and Larry.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Prairie View Church near Ollie. It will be live streamed at prairieviewchurch-iowa.org. Burial will be at the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial has been established. Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
