Kyle D. Schubert, age 54 of Marengo, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Marengo American Legion Hall starting at 4 P.M. There will be a brief Farewell Service with military honors at 5 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kyle is survived by his fiancée, Ruth Brenneman; his children Wesley Schubert of Northfield, MN and Justin Schubert of Crookston, MN, Kendall Brenneman of Riverside, Korby and Kurtis Brenneman of Marengo, Katie Sisson of Wellman; and fourteen grandchildren. Also surviving are his father Charles Schubert of Marengo; a brother Kerry Schubert (Carla) of Holstein; and two sisters Connie Cooling (Ray) of Marengo and Clair Morong (Mike) of Centennial, CO. Kyle was preceded in death by his mother Donna, and his beloved dog, Benjamin.
Kyle David Schubert was born October 12, 1963 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Charles and Donna Ruhlow Schubert. He spent his early years in Holstein, graduating in 1982 from Galva-Holstein High School. Kyle served in the United States Navy and was a retired Navy SEAL. This part of his life was so very important. He was a private individual who kept to himself. Kyle had a soft spot for animals and was involved with the ASPCA. He also enjoyed golfing with friends. Kyle moved to Marengo in 2009 to be close to his family. He met Ruth shortly after, and the couple made Marengo their home.
