Larry David Burk

Larry David Burk , age 80, of Brooklyn, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital following an illness and surgery. Graveside Services: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

He is survived by his sister, Esther Burk Marone of Batavia, NY; and a nephew, David Marone of Brimley, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah, and a brother Marvin.

Larry was born September 8, 1937 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Andrew Burk and Eva White Burk. He attended the Brooklyn schools and started working with his father on the family farm. He eventually was self-employed as a welder and metal fabricator. Larry and Sarah Louise Mahlstedt were married June 14, 1988 in Marengo. She passed away December 11, 2006. Larry remained in the Brooklyn community, and enjoyed seeking out antique farm machinery, and building and riding motorcycles.
