Larry Lee Cox Sr.

January 17, 1939 — July 23, 2021

Kalona- Larry Lee Cox Sr. was born January 17, 1939, in Columbus Junction. The son of Vane and Myrtle (Thomas) Cox. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Columbus Junction. On June 7,1958 he was united in marriage to Linda Woodruff. They resided in many states throughout the country, returning to Iowa to settle in Kalona for the last 28 years. He enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards, being a jokester, entertaining friends and loving his family. He spent many years working in the printing industry and then was a car salesman for Hargrave McEleney. Larry passed away Friday July 23, 2021 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 82.

Larry is survived by his brother Edwin Cox and four children: Sherry Margelot of East Nassau, NY; Tamora Cox of Dubuque; Laura (Tom) Moss of Saratoga Springs, NY and Larry (Bob Granger) Cox Jr. of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded by his parents, wife of 63 years, Linda; and brothers Kenneth, Melvin, Bill and Cecil.

A Graveside Service will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Columbus City Cemetery, in Columbus Junction. The Graveside Service will be on our Facebook page, live streamed. A visitation will be held form 1:00 pm until service time. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
