Larry Robert Moore was born March 15, 1938, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Lester and Ella May Fiser Moore. He graduated from Iowa Valley high school. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force ending his service in Salina Kansas. He took a chance and set out on a blind date with Marjean Matt, and they were married April 20, 1963. The couple moved back to Marengo in 1965, where they raised two sons, Brian Keith and Alan Aaron. Larry farmed along side his father until his father retired, then he continued to farm until 1975. He started Larry Moore Construction, retiring from there in 2003. After retirement, for several years, Larry enjoyed helping his son Alan with building fence until it got to be to much. He always wished he could keep up with operating the tractor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo. Larry would gather with others on Wednesday mornings at Trinity UCC for coffee and fellowship, and he never missed biscuits and gravy at the hospital on Friday mornings. He enjoyed long drives in the country, remembering where everyone grew up and lived.
