HEDRICK-LeRoy F. "Bill" Sieren, age 85, of Hedrick, died Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Bill was born April 20, 1925, in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Nicholas and Clara (Marsh) Sieren and attended country school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and on August 12, 1946, he married Zelma Nicholson at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek Township. The couple lived and farmed near Hedrick until moving into Hedrick. Bill moved to Manor House Care Center in Sigourney in August of 2006. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney and a 60-year member of American Legion Post #83 in Hedrick. Bill enjoyed square dancing, family gatherings and being with his family. Survivors include his wife: Zelma of Hedrick; two daughters: Diane Black of Ottumwa and Debra (Wendell) Essex of Wilton; two sons: Martin (Cindy) Sieren and Lynn (Lea) Sieren, all of Hedrick; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers: Harvey (Marilyn) Sieren of Hedrick, Howard (Bernetta) Sieren of Ottumwa and Fremont (Marilyn) Sieren of Keota and two sisters: Rosella Bayliss of Keota and Isabelle (Keith) Beinhart of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Steven Sieren; two granddaughters: Kimberly and Shelby Nelson; two brothers: Forrest and Clarence; three sisters: Evelyn Weber, LuAnna Weber and LaVinnia Bayliss and son-in-law: Donald Black. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.on Thursday, September 9, 2010, and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Manor House Care Center, Lou Gehrig Foundation, Parkinson's Disease Foundation, or St. Mary Catholic Church.
