Leo L. Schrock, of Kalona, Iowa, was born March 22, 1935, in Bremen, Indiana, the eighth child of Levi and Sarah (Yoder) Schrock. His family moved to Kalona, Iowa when he was a young boy. Leo accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in his youth. On October 2, 1965, Leo married Nedra Ruth Miller. Leo was a lifelong truck driver, working for CH Wilson, Farmland Industries, and Hawkeye Oil. He was proud to have earned a million-mile safe driver award! Leo, nicknamed “Shorty” by all who loved him, was a kind-hearted, simple man, who enjoyed mowing his lawn, working in his garden, finding 4-leaf clovers, popping the best popcorn around, and watching his sons and grandchildren play whichever sport was in season. He was a longtime member of the Washington Township Optimist Club and Kalona Mennonite Church. Leo passed away peacefully at Pleasantview Home in Kalona, Iowa, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at age 91.
Leo is survived by his son Leon and wife Robin (Schlabach) Schrock, Parnell, IA; daughter-in-law Rhonda (Gehring) Schrock, Hesston, KS; 12 grandchildren: Morgan (Jeffrey) Bulechek, Iowa City, IA; Kaitlyn (Devin) Patterson, Wichita, KS; Levi (Elaine) Schrock, Wellman, IA; Lane (Kendall) Schrock, Sarasota, FL; Summer (Lavon) Ropp of Kalona, IA; Joya (DJ) Buti, Englewood, CO; London (Taryn) Schrock, Kalona, IA; Luke (Dawsyn) Schrock, Kalona, IA; Liam, Lawson, Annika, and Landry Schrock, Parnell, IA; as well as 8 great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Fannie Schrock, Wanda Miller and Maggie McGill, and two brothers-in-law, Daniel Nisly and Ned Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nedra, a son, John, four brothers, Perry, Olen, Elmer, and Edwin Schrock, and four sisters, Mary Miller, Judy Miller, Sylvia Ropp, and Alma Nisly.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all our friends and family for your kindness and thoughtfulness at this time, and especially to the amazing staff at Pleasantview who have loved Leo so well these past few years.
