Linda G. Kriegel, age 83 of Grinnell, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away at the Mayflower Health Center in Grinnell on January 20, 2018.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Corey Close officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service at 7 P.M.
Memorials may be contributed to Windsor Manor or Mayflower Home in Grinnell.
Linda is survived by her children, Laura (Bruce) Blankenfeld, Karen (Kenny) Thompson, Cheryl (Rick) Burnham all of Grinnell, Mark (Deb) of Brooklyn, Curtis (Angie) of Hartwick, Kevin of Hartwick, Mindy (Dave) Ward of Fort Collins, CO, and Ginny (Marty) Burkle of North Liberty; twenty-one grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marcella Moyer of Grinnell and Carol Owens of Chariton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen Joe in 2015; an infant son Stephen; an infant granddaughter, Jessica Kriegel; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Graff, and Luke, Ivy, and Lainey Riedel, and a daughter-in-law Lisa Kriegel.
Linda Gae Guddendorf was born March 14, 1934 in Hayward, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Peter Guddendorf, Jr. and Hazel Irene Tinkle Guddendorf. She attended the Malcom schools and married Glen Joseph Kriegel on November 19, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The couple farmed in the area for many years. Linda was a loving wife and mother and “Queen of the Castle”. She spent time gardening and cooking, but also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and ceramics. Linda’s family was her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
