Marengo-Linda Louise Lillie was born January 7, 1952, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of David John and Erna Ida Rose (Iburg) Davies. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1970 and attended Kirkwood Community College for Floriculture. Linda was united in marriage to William Lillie on June 19, 1971, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Together they made their home in rural Marengo on the family farm. Linda enjoyed sewing, cooking, arranging flowers, card games with her friends, and going to the casino with her cronies. Linda’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo and the Altar Guild. Over the years Linda worked many different jobs while raising her family and helping on the farm. Those jobs, often part time, included sorting corn at Pioneer Seed Corn, arranging flowers at Rosa's Flower shop, cooking at Landmark Restaurant, Colony Market Place, Marengo Memorial Hospital and Rose Haven, she was the produce lady at Big G for many years as well. Linda died on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, following a brief illness, at the age of 74 years.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Erna Davies of rural Williamsburg; children, Becky (Brian) Fry, Jason (Lisa) Lillie, Adam (Jamie) Lillie all of Marengo, and Morgan (Andy) Rodgers of South English; grandchildren, Kailea and Dillon Fry, Nicole and Tiffany Herman, David (Brittni) Lillie, Caleb Lillie and Grace Lillie, Christian, Elijah and Hazel Lillie, Lexi (Mark) Rodgers-Trejo, Jasper and Antone Larimer, and Emilia Rodgers; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, John (Linda) Davies and James Davies both of rural Williamsburg, Kristine (Lyle) Groth of Ellsworth and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Sarah Meyer.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the American Legion Hall in Marengo, with Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating. Burial will be at the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the American Legion Hall in Marengo and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A general memorial fund has been established.
