Solon- Lloyd Dean Warner was born February 15, 1950, in Sigourney, Iowa the son of Stanley Earl and Bernadine Louise McCombs. He graduated from English Valleys High School in 1968. On September 5, 1970, Lloyd was united in marriage to Jane Louise Minnaert in Brooklyn, Iowa. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in industrial occupations and sociology from Northeast Missouri State University in 1972. Lloyd was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Fort Wainright, in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he worked as military police. He served from 1972-1974. Lloyd’s profession was in marketing and international sales. Over the years he worked for various companies including: The Nisson Corporation, Norand as a Marketing Development Manager, Crystal Group, where he was able to travel all over the world, and Scheels All Sports in the hunting department. Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, carpentry and sports. Lloyd died on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by his wife Jane of Solon, Iowa; mother Bernadine Warner and a sister Carolyn (Michael) Elwood all of North English, Iowa; sisters-in-law June (Jeff) Davis of Kearney, Missouri and Kathy Minnaert of Brooklyn, Iowa; nieces and nephews Kathryn (Joe) Moreland of Iowa City, Iowa, Beth Elwood of Ankeny, Iowa, Anne (Jeff) Gross of St. Louis, Missouri, Shawn (Heidi) Minnaert of Brooklyn, Iowa, Kari (Thaine) Ernst of Fallon, Nevada, Nate (Cassie) Minnaert of Brooklyn, Iowa and Jake (Jennifer) Davis of Kearney, Missouri; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Stanley and a brother-in-law Mike Minnaert.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Legacy Acres 3018 O Ave, Parnell, Iowa. There will be a short service at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Youth Hunter/Wildlife Education Programs or the Cedar Rapids Mercy Hall-Perrine Cancer Center 3rd Floor Oncology Department.
