Louise M. Zuber

Louise M. Zuber, age 97 of Amana, formerly of South Amana, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 11, 2017, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Dale Morrison officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the South Amana Cemetery, South Amana, at a later date. Memorials may be contributed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

She is survived by a brother Jack Zuber (Juanita) of Cedar Rapids; and close friend Sue Barber of Fountain Hills, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie McDonald, Leona Ehrmann, and step siblings, Henrietta Shoup, William Zuber and Rose Tucker.

Louise was born August 29, 1919 in South Amana, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Reihman Zuber. She grew up in South Amana, attending the South Amana school and graduated from Marengo High School. Louise then moved to Aurora, Illinois where she worked for the Arthur Podolak family for many years. She then worked for the Blackstone and Drake Hotels in Chicago. In 1950 Louise returned to Iowa and worked at Stamats Publishing Company and Craemers Department Store until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling to Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland. She loved baseball and whenever possible went to the Chicago Cubs games. She enjoyed sewing, often making her own clothes, and caning furniture.
