Luetta Arbige

Luetta J. Arbige, 65, of West Burlington, IA, formerly of the Salem and Mt. Pleasant areas, died at her home in West Burlington. Ms. Arbiges body will be cremated according to her wishes. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is assisting with the arrangements. Born October 4, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Luetta Jean was the daughter of Byron J. and Ruth Virginia Davidson Livix. She spent her formative years in the Salem area and attended the Dorland and Center country schools. She was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Following her graduation she moved to Burlington and attended the Burlington Beauty Academy. Ms. Arbige worked for several years as a beautician in Burlington. She served for many years as a secretary for the Des Moines County Health Department, until retiring from that office. She enjoyed stock car racing, boating, swimming, camping, fishing and snowmobiling. An avid outdoor lover, she enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers and gardening. Her greatest love was spending time with Christian, her beloved schnauzer. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Martsching of Arbor Court, Mt. Pleasant, IA; two sisters, Carol McDowell and her husband Jim of West Burlington, IA, and Mary Smith of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three nieces, one nephew and fourteen great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three special friends, Robert Schmidt of Burlington, IA, Dianne Molander of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Dee Lipscomb, currently serving with the United States Army at Ft. Campbell, KY. Luetta was preceded in death by her father.
