Williamsburg- LuEtta Ruth Von Ahsen of Grand Island formerly of Williamsburg and Marion, was born January 16, 1931 in York Township, Iowa County near Williamsburg, Iowa. The daughter of Fredrick and Amanda (Glandorf) Iburg. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Immanuel Parochial School and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1948. LuEtta was united in marriage to Wayne William Von Ahsen on September 4, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. The couple raised 7 children, farmed worked and worshiped in York Township for36 years before moving to Conroy until Wayne's death in 1995. LuEtta lived in Marion, Iowa from 1996-2009 when she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she had been active in the choir, bell choir and ladies aid. LuEtta was called peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 16, 2012 ending her brave journey with Diabetes and Alzheimer's. She had by her side members of her loving family and the caring staff of Golden Living Center, Lake View. She was 81 years old. She is survived by a son: Tom (Marilyn) Von Ahsen of Wentzville, MO; six daughters: Sandy (Terry) Bricker of Grand Island, NE, Joan White Crane of Billings, MT, Kathy (Jay) Taylor of Mooresville, NC, Patti (Mike) Colombo of Somers, NY, Teri (Herb) Skoog of Cedar Rapids, IA and Monika Pavel of Seward, NE; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; two sisters: Alice (Gerry) Olson of Denver, CO and Dorothy Freeland of Lima, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter: Linda, a sister: Leona Steinke and a brother: Harold Iburg. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2012 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
