Madena M Schlabaugh

September 20, 1916 — September 29, 2025

Wellman- Madena Mary Schlabaugh was born September 20, 1916, in Holbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Artamus and Ella (Eash) Yoder. She was united to marriage on December 31, 1938, to Eldon “Patch” Schlabaugh in Iowa City, Iowa. They lived in the Holbrook area until moving to Wellman in 1982. Madena was a very loving person. She enjoyed cooking and was a die-hard Cubs fan. Madena passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Pleastantview at the age of 109 years.

Madena is survived by her two children; Richard “Dick” (Connie) Schlabaugh of Riverside, Iowa and Laurel Schlabaugh of Parnell, Iowa. Two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Loretta Bender and 2 brothers Glen and Arnold Yoder.

Celebration of life Service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2025, at Asbury United Methodist Church, in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery, Wellman. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Asbury United Methodist Church, Pleasantview Home and Iowa City Hospice.
