Margaret Hazelton

Margaret Hazelton was born March 27, 1926 in Shelton, Nebraska, the daughter of Aaron and Minerva (Erb) Beckler. She attended school in Wood River and Cairo, Nebraska. On April 11, 1946 Margaret was united in marriage to Wayne Hazelton in Wellman. She has lived in the Wellman community since 1948. Margaret worked as a brush maker at Oral B Lab in Iowa City for 32 years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Prayers and Squares, Friendly Circle, and served as church historian for several years. Margaret had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and she received a Governor's Award for her many donations of baby quilts for foster children. Margaret died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa at the age of 89 years and 1 month.
Margaret is survived by her six children: Wayne (Su) Hazelton Jr. of Ankeny; Alford (Brenda) Hazelton of Georgetown, TX; Donna (Gary) Rowe of Cedar Rapids; Karen Hazelton of Macon, MO; Karla (Phil) Mellinger of Wellman; Brian (Lorri) Hazelton of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister Laurene Carter of Wellman; and a brother Merlyn Beckler of Tipton. She was preceded death by her parents, her husband Wayne, a granddaughter, an infant brother Cleo, and 4 sisters Verna Kuhns, Ella Schweitzer, Marie Schweitzer, and Erma Hartzler.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Pastor Moody Colorado will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman.
