Marlys Ruggles Conger

OLLIE-Marlys Rexann Ruggles Conger, 52, of Ollie, died Thursday, November 19, 2020. She was born September 18, 1968, to Linda and Mick Ruggles. Marlys graduated from Pekin High School with the class of 1987. Over the years she had many friends that became family to her. Marlys became a mother to a son, Derek Stephen Sharp, on June 20, 1990, then on January 20, 1994 she had a daughter, Dena Lee Sharp, then on December 15, 1994, she had another son, Wyatt Lane Sharp. In 2009, Marlys met the love of her life, Marty Fleig. Marlys and Marty together enjoyed all that life had to offer, especially their grandchildren. Being a mother to her children and becoming a grandma to Sammuel, Nolan and Ryleigh was her greatest joy in life. She enjoyed watching them grow and attending their many activities. Marlys was a member of the Ollie Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her kind and giving spirit.
Marlys is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Ed and Linda Conger and her father, Mick Ruggles; a brother, Mickey Dean Ruggles; daughter, Dena Lee Sharp; aunt, Joan Shackelford, aunt, Marlys Shackelford, aunt, Lois Cunningham and a sister, Laura Starr.
Marlys is survived by Marty Fleig, Derek (Amanda) Sharp, Sammuel Sharp, Ryleigh Garr, Wyatt Sharp and Nolan Sharp. Also a brother, Brett (Beth) Thurman; sister, Tina (Gene) Jones; aunt and uncle, Linda and Max Shackelford and extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

As her wish, Marlys will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
