Mary Ann Frimml, age 86 of Marengo, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 6, 2017, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. Memorials may be contributed to the St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Karen) of Marengo, Gary (Dustie) of Cedar Rapids, Mark of Marengo, and Dan (Tiffany Pedersen) of Marengo; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Frimml, Brad (Shalina) Frimml, Erin Jacobsen (Mike), Ellary Frimml (Michael Read), Amelia Frimml, Lola Frimml, Myla Frimml and Kierra Frimml; and three great-grandchildren, Garett Read, Chase Read and Anna Jacobsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin, a daughter Patricia Ann, four brothers, Derald, Dean, Andrew, and Ronald Brecht, and a sister Elvera Valente.

Mary Ann Brecht was born July 28, 1930 in a farm house near West Amana, the daughter of Edward John Brecht and Elva Knock. She received her education in the Washington Township school, and married Martin John Frimml on January 27, 1948 in Marengo. The couple farmed in Iowa County. Martin died in 1969.

Mary Ann’s focus in life was her family. She especially loved attending the children and grandchildren’s events. She enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlanta Braves. Mary Ann was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Ladora Saddle Club and the Star Twirlers and enjoyed square dancing with Martin before his passing.
