Mary Ann Kauffman

Mary Ann Kauffman was born October 11, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Clarabelle (Kaska) Durian. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1974 and the Dental Assistant Program at Kirkwood Community College. On December 30, 1978 Mary was united in marriage to Jerry Kauffman at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman. Mary has worked as a Dental Assistant for John Alan Maxwell DDS since 1984. She enjoyed spending time with her family, flowers, gardening, making shutterfly picture albums, and she loved going to the beach and her Mexico excursions. Mary died on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 59 years.
Mary is survived by her husband Jerry Kauffman of Kalona; a son Shawn (Haley) Kauffman of Kalona; her father Howard Durian of Fairfield; and 6 brothers - Pat Durian; Mike Durian of Wellman; John (Robin) Durian of Tiffin; Tom (Marcie) Durian of North Liberty; Jim (Jennifer) Durian; Terry Durian of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Clarabelle Durian in January 2010; and a sister Vicki Durian in June 1980.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman with Rev David Brownfield PhD officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM on Tuesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM a Vigil Service followed by a Rosary Service will be held at 2:00 PM and a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Mercy Hospital Foundation and the monies will be directed to the Mercy Hospice Care Unit.
