Mary Lomax Keuhnle, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, May 27th, beginning after noon at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be Friday, May 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jesse Perry officiating. Inurnment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Founders' Chapter "A" TTT for camp girls. Born in Mt. Pleasant, IA, on October 8, 1935, Mary was the daughter of Lomax and Miriam (Rhineheimer) Foggy. Mary graduated from New London High School in 1953. She attended a business school in Omaha, NE. On January 8, 1955, she married Elmer Keuhnle in New London. Mary began her work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. After leaving Washington D.C., she worked for JC Penney in Mt. Pleasant and Brenton Bank in Knoxville, IA as a bank teller. Mary was always a homemaker for her family. A long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mary served as an Elder, was a member of Ruth Circle, and served on the wedding coordinating committee. Active in many organizations, she was a member of Founders' Chapter "A" TTT, Women's Club, Book Club, Questers, Tuesday Study Club, and Country Club on the River. She had been a Girl Scout leader and a Hospice volunteer. A life-long learner, Mary was a voracious reader and an avid bridge player. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and spending time with her family. Along with her husband, Elmer, Mary is survived by two daughters, Kimn (Tom) Hassenfritz and Lyndel (Mike) Barton both of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Blaire (Stacie) Barton, Gabrean (Liz) Barton, and Jess, Libbe, and Ian Hassenfritz; four great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Stockton, of Mesa, AZ; and one niece, Kathy Hodges of Wapello, IA. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, Cale Barton.
