Mary Ellen Miller

KALONA - Mary Ellen (Miller) Miller was born August 8, 1932, in Johnson County, Iowa, to Chris B. and Barbara (Brenneman) Miller.  She attended Brush #1 Elementary School.  On January 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Freeman Miller.  She was baptized in her youth and was a faithful member of Sharon Bethel Church until her death.  Attending church was very important to her and she attended as much as her health allowed.  Mary died on Friday, March 25, 2022, at her daughter’s home, at the age of 89 years.

            Mary is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Rosie (Sam) Stoltzfus of Honeybrook, PA and Joanna (Leighton) Yoder of Kalona; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Leona Peachy of Kalona; three sisters-in-law, Susie and Katie Miller of Kalona and Arlene Miller of Albuquerque, NM; one brother-in-law, Eddy J. Miller of Kalona and many much loved nieces, nephews and friends.

            Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Chris B. and Barbara; Freeman, her husband of 69 years, on January 29, 2022; a sister, Elsie; three brothers, Monroe Glen, Henry C. and Edwin Ray and a niece Ethel Helmuth.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Sharon Bethel Church.  Burial will be in the Sharon Bethel Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 4:30 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday at the Sharon Bethel Church.  The service will be livestreamed on the Sharon Bethel Church Facebook page. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.  The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
