Maxine Good

May 18, 1930 — February 3, 2019

North English- Leora Maxine Good was born May 18, 1930 in Prairie City, Iowa, the daughter of Emery Francis & Nellie Pauline (Anderson) Shera. She attended rural school in the Prairie City area and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1948. On October 6, 1949 Maxine was united in marriage to Forrest Good in Winterset, Iowa. She worked with Evans Photography, Amana Refrigeration and the North English Community Center. She was also a part of starting and running the "Thrift Shoppe". Maxine was a member of the North English United Methodist Church, serving on the board and taught Sunday School when her children were young. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society Board and sold daffodils. She enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, cooking, gardening, crafts and spending time with her family. Maxine died on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo at the age of 88 years.

She is survived by her children Barbara (Ronald) Banes of North English and Ronald Good of Cedar Rapids; special family member Lesta Sarazin of Center Point; six grandchildren Tracy (Brad) Folkedahl of Millersburg, Cindy (Joe) Kruse of Parnell, Steve (Annie) Banes of North English, Chad (Kim) Good of Cedar Rapids, Scott (Bethany) Sarazin of Alburnett and Kevin (Angela) Sarazin of McCallsburg; thirteen great grandchildren Brittany, Madyson, Katie, Aram, Reagan, Hallie, Keatyn, Coen, Daryan, Charly, Jacob, Jenna & Makenzey; and a sister Mary Moore of Prairie City. She was preceded by her parents, husband, two sisters Dorothy Baumann and Edna Orrell; a brother-in-law Lynn Orrell; and a special family member John Sarazin.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Ric Gerard will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4-7 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials are for Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo.
