Melissa Ann McCammant

Belle Plaine-Melissa Ann McCammant was born February 5, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Brenda (Dietze) McCammant. She grew up in Ladora and graduated from HLV High School in 1997. Melissa earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Kirkwood Community College. She lived in Marengo and then most recently Belle Plaine. Melissa worked at Frontier Co-op as a production worker. She enjoyed camping, kayaking, crafting, attending garage sales and thrifting, especially when she would find old pieces of glassware. Most of all she enjoyed her family and bringing them together on the Holiday’s. Melissa died Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital, in Iowa City, surrounded by family at the age of 46 years.

She is survived by her dad, Mike of Ladora; siblings, Carrie Engelbart of Victor, Jodi McCammant of Marengo, Laura McCammant of Ladora and Seth McCammant of Marengo; her life partner, Jason Breiholz of Belle Plaine; her nieces and nephew, Katrina, Keagen, Jayla and Nora; and her fur babies, her dog Rocky and two cats Pumpkin and Pepper. She was preceded in death by her mom and grandparents.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. Memorials may be directed to Powell Funeral Home PO Box 224 Marengo, IA to assist the family with funeral expenses. Powell Funeral Home in Marengo is caring for Melissa and her family.
