Myrtle Lorene (Erb) Kremer, daughter of John M. Erb and Ida (Hershberger) Erb, was born November 26, 1917 at Milford, Nebraska. She died on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center. On March 6, 1938, she married Gerald Kremer, Milford, NE. She was a homemaker and assisted with the farming. She was active in several volunteer circles helping with various activities. Myrtle really enjoyed her family, especially during family dinners. She was an excellent cook, specializing in homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, pies and her famous fried potatoes and fried chicken. Myrtle also loved to walk the timbers of her farm, hunting mushrooms in the spring and hickory nuts in the fall, and was always ready for a great game of Scrabble. She volunteered at local nursing homes with sing alongs, and at The Crowded Closet Thrift Store in Iowa City. She taught bible school and Sunday School for many years. She quilted many quilts for family members and for the Mennonite Church Relief sale. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and was received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Faith, to which she was faithful until death. Myrtle is survived by four sons, Claude (Marva) Kremer of Mount Pleasant, IA, Eugene (Penny) Kremer of Milford, NE, Jack (Bonnie) Kremer of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Timothy (Deanne) Kremer of Bettendorf, IA; one sister, Marilyn (Gene) Stauffer, Dorchester, NE. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her parents, her husband, two brothers, and one sister, preceded her in death. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Jim Luder officiating. Her body was buried in the White Oak Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Mennonite Board of Missions and the Henry County Habitat for Humanity.
