Nancy Sue Hooper

Williamsburg- Nancy Sue Hooper was born October 6, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of William C and Dorothy Mae (Wickliff) Bunce. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1957. Nancy was united in marriage to Charles Lester Hooper on June 27, 1958, at the Christian Church in Carlisle. In 1966, Nancy & Les moved to the Williamsburg community where they raised their family and Nancy worked for a few years at Farmer’s Trust & Savings Bank. Nancy was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, where she held many church offices and was a member of the women’s group. She was a former Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nancy died on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 85 years.

She is survived by her son Scott (Hannah) Hooper of Williamsburg; daughter Julie (Greg) Menary of Carlisle; daughter-in-law Brenda Hooper of North English; and five grandchildren Jennifer (Tom) Hartshorn, Nickolas (Megan) Menary, Zachery Hooper, Gabrielle Hooper and Ashley Hooper. She was preceded by her parents; husband Les; son Wm. Jeffery Hooper; a sister Patricia Nowels; and a brother Charles Bunce.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 11, 2023 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be 9:30 am until service time on Thursday at the church. Memorials are for the St. Paul United Methodist Church Youth Program.
