North English - Norma Faye (Smith) Kolosik was born on November 7, 1928, in rural Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Sidney Ellis and Florence Fern (Barker) Smith. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1946. Norma attended Iowa State Teacher’s College for a summer semester and taught in country school for a short time. On May 28, 1947, Norma was united in marriage to Lynn Max Kolosik at the Millersburg United Methodist Church. Norma and Lynn farmed and made their home in the rural North English community. Norma was active in farm life and maintained a large garden and yard. Together they raised three children, Vickie, Gary and Tracy. After her youngest child completed high school, Norma worked for the North English Record setting type, doing layout work, editing and helping publish the paper and later worked for Grimm Real Estate and Insurance as an insurance agent and secretary. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at the North English Library for many years. Norma was a member of the North English Christian Church where she was a member of the Searchers, a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) and she served as a long-time pianist. She enjoyed the country farm life, being with her family and traveling. She had a sweet soul, she gave unconditional love to her family and she had a great sense of humor with an infectious laugh.
