SIGOURNEY-Owen Dean Iosbaker, age 79, of Davenport, Florida, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, in the home where he was born. Dean was born September 16, 1934, in Sigourney, to Ergo and Helen (Fredricksen) Iosbaker and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1952. He then served in the United States Air Force from August 1952 until January of 1958. Dean married Jacqueline Howard in 1958 in Newfield, New Hampshire. He started his career with the F.A.A. in Indianapolis, Indiana, then became a corporate pilot for Essex Wire in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1967. In 1978 they moved to Glastonbury, Connecticut, where Dean flew for United Technologies in Hartford, retiring in 1991. Following retirement, Dean was a tour guide at the New England Air Museum for several years. The couple moved to Florida in 2002. Dean enjoyed woodworking, wood carving and spending summers on the farm in Sigourney. Survivors include his wife: Jacqueline of Sigourney; two sons: Gary and wife Christie of Sigourney and Douglas and wife Linda of Niantic, Connecticut; daughter: Tracy L. Helfrich of Longwood, Florida; six grandchildren: Ashley Helfrich of Gainesville, Florida, Kellie Marie Fernandez of Brownwood, Texas, Megan Clark of Sigourney, Scott (Cynthia) Guenthner of St. Paul, Minnesota, Heather Sciford of Homewood, Illinois and Terri Vermillion of New Orleans, Louisiana and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per his wishes, he has been cremated and no services are planned. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for Keokuk County Hospice or the Webster United Methodist Church. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Dean and his family.
