Paul Johnnie Cline, age 85 of Brooklyn, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Brooklyn Community Estate. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Father Corey Close officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Paul is survived by his wife Betty; his beloved dog Sam; 10 children Carmen (Ron) Weaver, of Grinnell, Duane (Julie) Cline, of Anamosa, Gary (Cathy) Cline, of Malcom, Roger (Natalie) Cline, of Grinnell, Gwen (Jeff) Meier, of Marengo, Kevin (Laura) Cline, of Guernsey, Sharon Dixon (Alan), of Washington, Brian (Julie) Cline of Montezuma, Eric Cline, of Sully and Russell (Angie) Cline, of Brooklyn; a son-in-law Don Kuhn; 22 grandchildren Valerie (Dan) Fruendt, Christopher (Heather) Cline, Sheryl Cline, Sara (Robert) Williams, Justin Cline, Amy Cline, Alyssa Minor, Bailey Cline, Bryson Cline, Kylie Cline, Owen Cline, Emily Cline, Jeremy Fisher, Kandace (William) Fee, Ashlie (Parker) Andersen, Abbi Nelson, Alyssa Cline, Alivia Cline, Joshua Cline, Jacob Cline, Kole Cline and Jewel Cline; 18 Great Grandchildren Dakota Fruendt, Blossom Cline, Trey Williams, Cora Williams, Kassidy Cline, Beckett Crandall, Logan Minor, Emmarie Fisher, Maxlynn Fisher, Annistyn Fisher, Freyja Fisher, Joseph Fee, Augusten Fee, Abagail Andersen, Madlynn Andersen, Kaiya Cline, Kayde Cline and Jeremy Cline; two sisters Evelyn Wiley and Bernadette Cline; and a sister-in-law Doris Cline. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Nancy Kuhn, six brothers and two sisters.
Paul Johnnie Cline was born October 30, 1932, the son of George A. and Margaret T. Kriegel Cline. Paul was united in marriage to Betty Helen Groves on May 27, 1955 and they made their home in Brooklyn. He was a farmer and mechanic. Paul enjoyed attending both farm and home auctions and collecting stuff. He also liked his fish pond and spending time with his beloved dog Sam. Paul enjoyed gardening, family get-togethers and especially Sunday dinners at his home. He loved when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit.
