Paul Stafford

Paul E. Stafford, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died at his home. Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born November 8, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Paul Edward was the son of Glen Harold and Hattie Pearl Brown Stafford. He was educated in the Mt. Pleasant School District. Paul married Paula Mabb in Washington, IA. Four children were born of that union. The couple later divorced. On December 23, 1995, he married Sandra K. (Anderson) Hummell in Fairfield, IA. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2013. A lifelong Mt. Pleasant resident, Paul worked for Superior Cable, Iowa Telephone, and MacKay Envelope. For many years he worked as a machinist at Alaniz, INC. and retired from that position. An accomplished musician, Paul played lead guitar and sang. He was a member of The Cimmarons, a local band that played throughout southeast Iowa. In his spare time, Paul liked to hunt and fish. Along with his four children, Paul is survived by four grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Riley of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Violet Mills of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Pauline Hinkle of Burlington, IA; two brothers, Dean Stafford of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Wayne Stafford of Winfield, IA; a longtime friend, Carol Stafford of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Henry Stafford and Don Beames; and three sisters, Ruth Yakle, Ferne Hill, and Mary Louise Stafford, who died in infancy.
