Phillip Emil Bral, age 66 of Marengo, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, with Father David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the 4H Fairview Zippers.
Phillip is survived by his three children Tige (April) Bral of Victor, Michael (Faith) Owens of East Prairie, MO and Merrideth (Jason) Carden of Marengo; two brothers Bary (Tammy) Bral of Marengo and Randy (Denise) Bral of Homestead; 10 grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Shari Bral of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Slade, a grandson Jesse and a brother Roy.
Phillip Emil Bral was born January 22, 1951 in Marengo, the son of Emil Bral and Darlene Walters Bral. He graduated from Marengo High School where he was an All State Wrestler and homecoming king. He received an associate’s degree from Kirkwood Community College. Phillip married Michelle Kramer in 1973 and was blessed with two children. He later married Freda Ditto on September 19, 2009 on the family farm. Phillip worked at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years. He was very passionate about farming the family farm where he raised horses and cattle. He owned an International Farmall M tractor. Phillip was a confident and self-reliant person. If he could make something himself, he would. He was a member of the NRA and also the 4H Fairview Zipper Club and loved to joke around with people.
