Phillip Michael Reeves

Phillip Michael Reeves, age 68, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home at Holiday Lake near Brooklyn, Iowa. Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Holiday Lake Community Center.  His final ride will begin at 7 P.M. Phil was all about enjoying life, so the family invites all to come in casual dress and share memories and good times. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Cindy; five children, Timothy Reeves (Karen) of Como, MS, Trudi Reeves (Oscar) and Terri Reeves of Memphis, TN, Jonathon McDonough (Blair) of Tiffin, IA, and Casey McDonough (Matt) of Newton, IA; six grandchildren, Camille Stewart, Victoria Reeves, Hannah Reeves, Oscar Lee Malone IV, Kinsley McDonough and Kyler McDonough; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Autumn, and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Billy.

Phillip M. Reeves was born September 24, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of George Washington Reeves, Jr. and Vida Gertrude Bateman Reeves. He graduated from Kingsbury High School in Memphis, Tennessee with the Class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1967–1973, during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He and Cindy Kooser McDonough were married on May 24, 1993 at Elk Point, South Dakota. Phillip was employed with the meat packing industry for over 40 years; previously employed with the John Morrell Company in Sioux City, Iowa and presently employed as a cost manager with JBS in Marshalltown, Iowa.

He made his home at Holiday Lake, and served on the Lake Board of Directors. He was an avid huntsman of deer, pheasant, turkey and enjoyed fishing too. He enjoyed grilling and cooking for his family and the guys during deer camp. He liked karaoke, singing, dancing and entertaining dear friends with jokes and southern analogies or “Philisms”. A highlight of his earlier years was meeting “the King” Elvis Presley during his job with the Summer Twin drive-in theatre in Memphis, Tennessee. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
