Phyllis Carol Wright, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Keota, Iowa, on June 22, 2026.
Phyllis was born in Elkport, Iowa, on January 8, 1943, to Carroll and Mabel (Sprague) Wittman. As a child, she enjoyed many summers camping, boating, and water skiing on the Mississippi river with her family.
Phyllis married Roger “Pete” Wright on August 4, 1963, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, Iowa. They made their home in rural Keota, Iowa, where they lived and farmed while raising their three children, Bradley, Brian, and Paula, before moving into town in 1984.
Phyllis worked at Collins Radio, Keota Community Schools, Wilson Memorial Library, and Maplewood Manor before retiring. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed serving her community through committees at the United Church of Faith and Wilson Memorial Library.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bradley (Eric Felty) Wright of Indian Wells, California; Brian (Crystial) Wright of Keota; and Paula Wright of Keota; as well as her beloved dog, Ziva.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Erica (Chet) Cave, Leah (Trevor) Hayes, and Taylor (Sam) Ollinger, all of Keota; and Erin Wright and Ellen Wright of St. Louis, Missouri.
Phyllis is further survived by eight great-grandchildren: Porter, Hadley, and Bryer Cave; Abel, Tessah, and Griffin Hayes; and Letty and Maeve Ollinger, all of Keota. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete, in 2012; her sister, Corrine “Kay” Sutton; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the United Church of Faith in Keota. Burial at Keota Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
