Randy Kron

KALONA-Randy Lee Kron, age 70, of Kalona, died Thursday, July 23, 2026, at University of Iowa Downtown Campus in Iowa City.

Randy was born November 2, 1955, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Kolosiek) Kron. He attended Maple Grove country school and Mid-Prairie Schools before being home schooled. A lifelong Kalona resident, Randy worked alongside his father at Kron TV and Repair for several years until Walter’s retirement. Randy enjoyed reading, listening to music, researching things on the computer and tending to all types of animals, especially cats.

Survivors include special friends and neighbors: Mark and Keverley Gent, their sons Christian (Jamie) Johnson and Brodie Johnson; Gretchyn Swantz; Marv Kolosiek and Randy’s cats: Lottie, Sandy and Misty. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Cathy.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, with Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
