Washington- Richard Lee Lucas was born January 13,1954, in Sigourney Iowa, the son of Dwaine (Denny) and Althea (Koch) Lucas. He attended school in Knoxville IA, California before returning to Iowa graduating from Tri-County High School in Thornburg in the class of 1973. On May 26, 1979, he was united in marriage to Susan Moore at the What Cheer Baptist Church. Richard worked at Levi’s Home Oil, Perfex and Amana Refrigeration for 35 years as a Master Model Maker. He lived in Keswick, Knoxville, California for 8yrs. Cedar Rapids and Marion until residing in North English. He enjoyed bow and shotgun hunting, fishing, woodworking, going to gun shows, art and drawing, spending time on his computer, grilling and smoking meats, making his dear jerky and sausage. He especially loved going on family vacations camping and sitting around the campfires with Susan and the girls. Richard passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Aspire nursing home in Washington Iowa after a long illness at the age of 70.
Survivors include his two daughters: Tina Lucas and Heather (Kendall) Tschantz, both of Washington: Sister: Deb (Dennis) Martin of Keswick, Brother: Mike (Sharon) Lucas of Cedar Rapids: Many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; wife Susan of 42yrs.; son Justin Lucas; niece Sybrina Lucas; and great nephew Anthony Molyneux.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the McFarlan Cemetery, What Cheer.
