Marengo-Ricky (Rick) Dale Nicely was born October 26, 1964, in Moline, IL, the son of Harley Richard and Janice Elaine (Dennis) Nicely. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 1983. Rick was married to Bonita (Bonnie) and to this union they were blessed with their daughter. They later divorced. Rick was then united in marriage to Linda Sue Kreimer on February 14, 1993, in Marengo, IA. Rick grew up in Illinois and then moved to Marengo when he was in 5th grade. Rick was a Custodian II with the University of Iowa for 37 years. He was a devoted grandpa to his grandkids and dad to his children. Rick was a jack of all trades and never found a job that he couldn’t tackle or at least try. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, his dogs and watching his San Francisco 49ers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Rick died suddenly on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his home at the age of 60 years.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Danielle (Michael II) Henre and their children, Jaden Goellnitz, Paxton, Paris and Parker Henre of Kansas; two sons, Kody Nicely of Marengo and Kole (Allison) Nicely and their children, Calvin, Cohen and Cassidy Nicely of Blairstown; step son, Kyle A. Johnson of Cedar Rapids; four siblings, Ranell Lankford of Duncombe, IA, Jeanna Keegan of IL, Harley Richard Nicely Jr (Sara) of IL and Richard Harley Nicely (Bambi) of IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dawian Keegan at birth.
There will be a private family Funeral Service on Friday, July 25, 2025. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home in Marengo is caring for Ricky and his family.
