Rita J. Miller, 63, of Fruitland, IA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Monday, February 28, 2011, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jerry Van Hooser officiating. Inurnment will be at the Oakland Mills Cemetery. Memorials have been established for her grandson Coedy's education fund. Born October 25, 1947, in Fairfield, IA, Rita Jean was the daughter of Paul and Donna Jean (Myers) Boughner. She was a 1966 graduate of Fairfield High School. On August 20, 1984, Rita began a career as a judicial clerk for the State of Iowa at the Henry County Courthouse. In 2003, she moved to Muscatine, where she continued as a clerk for the Muscatine County Courts until her retirement in February 2010. Rita was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge #1003, and served on the executive board of AFSCME Local #3019 in Burlington. An avid Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan, Rita also enjoyed traveling. Her greatest love was spending time with Coedy. Rita is survived by her mother, Donna Jean Boughner of Fairfield, IA; one daughter, Nikki Christine Moore and her husband, Larry of Fruitland, IA; four grandchildren, Coedy Paul Silvers of Fruitland, IA, Megan Peebles, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Steven LaRue and Tara Moore both of Muscatine, IA; and a brother, Samuel Earl Boughner and his wife, Rosemary of What Cheer, IA. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Rita in death was her father, Paul Boughner.
