Robert G. "Bob" Crabb, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Friday, September 7, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. Graveside services, with full military rites, will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Carmen Cemetery, in Carmen, IL, with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Box 656, Mt. Pleasant, IA, 52641. Born February 18, 1926, in Lake City, IA, Robert Glenn was the son of Virgil and Emma Richardson Crabb. He was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School. Following high school, Bob joined the Army Air Corp, where he was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Jewell "Jo" M. Mason on September 6, 1947, in Gulfport, IL. To prepare for his working career Bob attended Southeast Iowa Community College and the University of Iowa where he took classes in statistical control and industrial management. He started working for Campbell Chain Company of West Burlington in 1948. He later transferred with the company to Fremont, CA. In 1972, Bob joined Lloyd Chain Inc. in Maryville, MO taking on the newly created position of plant manager. In 1979, he moved to Kansas City, MO, where he was employed by Roll-a-Matic. Bob retired in 1991 and continued to live in Kansas City until moving to Mt. Pleasant in 2010. Bob was of the Lutheran faith. He was a talented carpenter and used his gift to remodel several homes. In his spare time, he liked to golf, fish, and bowl. A good and kind man to his family, friends, and associates, Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his wife, Jo, of 65 years, Bob is survived by three children, Ginger (James) Cowley of Kansas City, MO, Gregory (Susan) of Gladstone, IL, and Cindee (Shannon) Wilson of Burlington, IA. He is also survived by a brother Terry (Judy) Crabb of Burlington, IA, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
