Robert G. Shoemaker

Robert G. Shoemaker, age 61 of Marengo, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, in Cedar Rapids. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Norway Masonic Lodge on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 5 to 7 P.M. Memorials can be directed to the family in Robert’s name.

Robert is survived by his wife Cody; two children Zac (Jessica) and Amber Shoemaker; two step-children Gena Koelker and Heather (Troy) Bruno; a brother Harold (Jennifer) Shoemaker; five grandchildren Lianna, Sterling, Spencer, Nathan and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his father Ernie in 2017.

Robert Shoemaker was born January 15, 1957 in Auburn, Nebraska, the son of Ernest and Velma Scholl Shoemaker. He graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids. He was united in marriage to Cody Leichsenring on May 23, 1979. Robert worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator. He and his brother owned and operated CLK Dealer Services in Cedar Rapids for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and stock car racing and was president of the Cedar Rapids Rabbit Breeders.
