Robert O. Sims

Robert O. Sims, 73, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Marengo American Legion, Marengo, Iowa,. Memorials may be contributed to the Iowa Valley Tiger Wrestling Club.

Bob was born November 19, 1944, in Marengo, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Cooperider) Sims. He was a counselor at The Abbey Center in Bettendorf for many years, retiring in 2016. He loved working in his yard, gardening, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Lions. Bob is survived by two children, Janet (Steve) Behrens, and Doug (Michelle) Sims, both of Marengo; five grandchildren, Riley, Shelby and Sydney Holst, and Chandler and Garet Sims; his longtime special friend, Robin Wallace of Rock Island; a sister, Sally (Dan) Baumgartner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two nieces, Kate VanBerkum and Sara Egnatic. He was preceded in death by his parents.
